Qatar will take part in the 64th session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, which kicks off in the Pakistan capital Islamabad today.
A delegation from the Ministry of Public Health will represent Qatar in the meetings.
The four-day programme will include the election of officers, the annual report of the regional director, progress reports on the eradication of poliomyelitis, the regional strategy on health and the environment 2014-19, the regional plan of action for implementation of the roadmap for an enhanced global response to the adverse health effects of air pollution, implementation of the Eastern Mediterranean vaccine action plan 2016-20, regional strategy for the improvement of civil registration and vital statistics systems 2014-19.
The meetings will also discuss the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, scaling up mental healthcare, implementation of the International Health Regulations, the report of the Regional Assessment Commission on the status of implementation of the International Health Regulations, and the implementation of the regional malaria action plan 2016-20.
