The stage is all set for a peace summit being held here on Saturday to discuss social and political issues afflicting society, political parties’ manifestos as well as initiatives being made for bringing sustainable peace in Pakistan, said a press release.

Representatives of major political parties, social entrepreneurs, media professionals, representatives of the civil society, government, international development community, and academia will attend the summit being organized by Search for Common Ground (SFCG) in partnership with Sustainable Development Policy Institute.

To showcase conflict transformation initiatives and experiences undertaken over two years by youth, local leaders and journalists, the summit is being held as part of SFCG’s Pakistan Peace Initiative (PPI) and its ongoing campaign for promoting dialogue through media and youth mobilization project.

The project has been implemented in 25 districts in all four provinces as well as Gilgit-Baltistan, FATA and Azad Kashmir in partnership with Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation, Pakistan Press Foundation and Uks Resource Centre supported by Danish International Development Agency.

A panel discussion on election manifestos of major parties, an interactive session with inspirational youth leaders and social entrepreneurs will also feature at the event.

The participants will also experience an interactive play “Plan B” in the evening.

The overall objective of the project is to shift people’s attitudes towards a constructive solutions-oriented approach by building the capacity of youth leaders, journalists and local leaders through training and workshops in building peace in their communities.
