KARACHI: PAF recorded Pakistan Premier Football League’s (PPFL) biggest upset this season on Sunday when they defeated this season’s top team KESC 5-1 at the KPT stadium.

PAF concluded last edition’s run in fifth place and remained in the lower-half amongst 16 teams this time.

Their striker Arif nawaz scored the opener in the third minute of the match while Mansoor Khan doubled the lead three minutes later. Muhammad Zeeshan also struck in the 40th minute as PAF led 3-0 at the interval.

PAF dominated the second-half as well. Nawaz scored his second goal in the 51st minute and KESC only managed to reply with Muhammad Mosa’s solitary strike in the 60th. PAF then went onto seal victory when Mansoor struck the net again a minute later.

“My team just collapsed after two early goals from PAF,” KESC coach Hasan Baloch told The Express Tribune. “They lost their rhythm; they seemed out of form and succumbed to the pressure.”

Baloch said that winning and losing was part of the game but the 5-1 margin was disturbing.

“PAF, Army, KESC, KRL and even NBP are teams of good calibre, so the competition is always tough. Losing is also part of the game, but the margin of four goals is disturbing.”

With the win, PAF moved to the ninth position with 21 points, while KESC lost their top spot to Muslim FC — KESC now have 32 points.

In other matches, PIA drew against Wapda 1-1, while Army and NBP played a goalless match at the KMC Stadium. Meanwhile, Baloch FC also contained KPT 1-1.
