2017 iPad Pro Vs Surface Pro: Which Device Gets The Job Done; Facts To Consider In Choosing A Tablet

Apple and Microsoft are now competing with the new 2017 iPad Pro and the new Surface Pro. Here are the details which consumers should consider before choosing the best tablet to get the job done.

Apple 2017 iPad Pro and Microsoft New Surface Pro are common in terms of size. The new12.9-inch iPad Pro is 12x8.68x0.27 inches, while the Microsoft 2017 Surface Pro is 11.5x7.9x0.33 inches. The 2017 iPad Pro and 2017 Surface Pro features a screen size of 12.9 inches and 12.3 inches, respectively. However, they have more in common than just this feature. Both tablets target professional users such as those who are into media consumption and productivity.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro has the best screen-to-bezel ratio ever seen on an iPad. The screen is a Retina display with a resolution of 2732 x 2048, which packs 264 pixels per inch (ppi). The screen is also capable of displaying HDR and can get incredibly bright, up to 600 nits in fact. It also features the same wide color gamut that can be found on the iPhone 7 and new line MacBook Pros. And finally, the screen features a 120hz refresh rate, thanks to the new ProMotion technology, meaning navigating around iOS 11 should be smoother than ever.

Meanwhile, the 2017 Surface Pro comes with a 12.3-inch PixelSense screen that displays content at a 2736 x 1824 resolution. That means it has a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch which narrowly beats out the iPad's 264, Trusted Reviews reports.

The Apple 2017 iPad Pro features the company's classic, slim aluminum-unibody build with rounded corners, a glass front, and a range of color options including Space Gray, Rose Gold, Gold, and Silver. Meanwhile, Microsoft new Surface Pro features a premium design with a platinum-colored magnesium alloy exterior, but its edges are more square and there's no additional color choice.

According to PC Mag, in terms of ports, the new Surface Pro leads the 2017 iPad Pro and makes a stronger laptop replacement. It features USB 3.0 port, a mini DisplayPort, a 3.5mm audio jack, a microSDXC card reader, and a connector for power and docking. There's also a built-in kickstand. The only things missing are USB-C or Thunderbolt 3. Meanwhile, the new iPad Pro has only an Apple proprietary Lightning port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

According to Isports Times, in terms of camera, Apple 2017 iPad Pro features a 12MP rear camera and 7MP front camera. Meanwhile, Microsoft new Surface Pro features 8MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. Hence, Apple iPad Pro beats the new Surface Pro in this feature.

In terms of internal storage, put simply, Microsoft offers more. You can choose between 128,256, 512GB, or 1T of storage on the Surface Pro, while Apple offers either 64, 256, or 512GB on the iPad Pro.
